Find Your Freedom & Fit With Contact Lenses

Contact lenses can be an excellent alternative to eyeglasses and refractive surgery. There are so many different choices that there’s a style and fit for nearly every eye. If you’re looking to wear contact lenses, we provide contact lens exams and fittings so you can achieve clear, comfortable vision.

The Contact Lens Exam

Because contacts sit directly on the eye, you will need a few additional tests over and above your regular comprehensive eye exam to determine what type of lenses will work best for you. In addition to the usual tests, like a visual acuity test, a refraction, and an intraocular pressure test, we will assess your corneal health and measure your cornea for the proper fit.

We use corneal topography to map the surface and curvature of your cornea. It’s a non-invasive, computerized test that can reveal any possible issues with the surface of your eye, such as scarring or astigmatism. Corneal topography allows us to find the perfect fit of contact lens for your eyes.

Spectral microscopy, or a spectral microscope, is non-invasive imaging software used to take photographs of the corneal endothelium. This allows us to evaluate your cornea’s integrity to determine if your eyes are healthy enough for contact lens use. We can also assess your ocular health after extended lens use. Using this information, we can make adjustments in your contact lens type or brand to ensure your eyes remain healthy and comfortable while wearing contact lenses.

The Contact Lens Fitting

Your contact lens fitting is part of the contact lens exam process. During your fitting, we discuss your lifestyle and ocular needs to determine what types of lenses might work best for you.

We will then show you how to insert and remove contact lenses, test the fit and your visual clarity while wearing them, and, if needed, try different lenses. We will show you how to properly care for your contact lenses, including how to clean them and how long you’re allowed to wear them. We will provide you with anything else you may need to keep you comfortable and healthy while wearing contact lenses.

You will be sent home with a trial pair, and a follow-up exam will be scheduled.

Contact Lens Types & Brands

If you have always wanted contact lenses but have been told that they won’t work for you, have hope! Contact lens technology has advanced so much over the years that there are lenses suitable for nearly anyone. If you have astigmatism, need multifocal lenses, or have dry eye syndrome, there’s a contact lens for that!

We carry a variety of contact lens types from the top brands, including Acuvue, Bausch and Lomb, and Alcon.

Specialty Lenses

Toric lenses are a type of soft gas-permeable contact lenses that have different prescriptions along the vertical and horizontal axes, to improve vision for those with astigmatism. They are weighted to prevent them from rotating.

Multifocal contact lenses are designed to correct presbyopia. They are a great option for those who require prescriptions for multiple distances, like driving and reading.

Scleral lenses are large gas-permeable contact lenses designed to vault over the cornea and sit on the eyes’ sclera (the whites). Scleral lenses provide visual clarity and relief for those with ocular diseases and conditions, such as keratoconus and chronic dry eyes. They produce a large tear reservoir, creating the ideal ocular surface environment.

Orthokeratology or Ortho-K lenses are a type of rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lens designed to temporarily reshape the cornea and correct myopia. They’re meant to be worn overnight and removed in the morning, so you can achieve clear vision during the day without needing glasses.

Aspheric lenses are designed to correct hyperopia and myopia by reducing image errors and aberrations that can be caused by the shape of spherical lenses.

Hybrid contact lenses combine soft and rigid gas-permeable contact lenses into one lens. They have a rigid center surrounded by soft edges. These lenses are designed to provide the crisp, clear vision of RGPs with the comfort of soft lenses.
